“A, O, Way to Go Ohio”

Though we’re surprisingly blue on the electoral map, we’re anything but blue in Ohio today. It was a little close (51% to 47%), but we’ll take it. And I’m very proud that my home county, Stark County, went blue (50% to 48%). Sorry to report that they did it without my dad’s vote, but I’m […]

1-800-Get This Overwith!

The pacing continues. I don’t care how many times the polls say Obama is going to win, I won’t believe it until I see it, and perhaps not even then. I know better than to get complacent. Truly there should be an emotional support hotline for election day. No matter which side you’re on, this […]

Papa Can You Hear Me?

I’ve talked my parents into some pretty crazy things over the years. As an 18-year-old airhead I talked dad into letting me and two girlfriends drive to Florida for spring break in my senior year of high school. I also got him to take me to a Shaun Cassidy concert at the state fair one […]

Big day! Season 3 of 30 Rock starts tonight at 9:30pm on NBC. I confess that I couldn’t wait and watched it online already.  It’s good!
This show won seven, count ‘em, seven Emmy awards. What a nice diversion from the election — start watching!

Undecided?

For those who are still deciding…an interesting article from political conservative Peggy Noonan in The Wall Street Journal.

These last few days will be full of mudslinging. Look away. Don’t let politicians talk to us this way.
And when you vote, think not only about your personal needs, or your political party, but the needs of others. […]

Kenley Deserved to…

I hate to say it, but Kenley deserved to….Kenley deserved to…okay, I can’t say it. Kenley beat out Jerell for a top three spot on Project Runway. The rudest contestant ever did it with an ostrich wedding dress apparently ripped off from Alexander McQueen. Jerell has been consistent all season, and I knew he’d make […]

Celine in C-Bus: We’re Not Worthy

My friend Miss Pat and I were fortunate to have good seats to see Celine Dion last night in Columbus. I’ve been a closeted fan since I saw Celine on The Tonight Show in 1990, when she was 22 and I was 27. I don’t know why I was watching The Tonight Show, which I […]

The War Is Over!

No, not that war. The war between Apple’s iTunes and NBC is over! We are free! We’re free to download our favorite shows from NBC and its sister networks (USA, Bravo, etc.) from iTunes. And just in time for fall TV! Okay, so maybe this is meaningful only to those with video iPods and people […]

It’s True; Anyone Can Be President

This is weird. I have the same degree as Sarah Palin–a BA in Journalism. Therefore, someone who has the same degree as I do could easily become the President of the United States. Am I inspired by this? No. I’m shaken to the core. Does anyone see how crazy this is? We’re talking about a […]

Misplaced Fear Is the Issue

The passing of another September 11th brings back not only bad memories of an horrific day in American history, but brings to the forefront its legacy: the fear card. Ever since 9/11, politicians (you know which ones) have been using the tragedy as a political tactic, reminding America to be afraid, be very afraid. Don’t […]
